Halloween

well.... ever since 2001, I've pretty much hated Halloween..... nights like tonight I miss my kids more than you could ever imagine.....

I'm sitting at home watching Barry Manilow on Bravo..... I think they call this PMS ... Paul Mackay Sappy!!!!

Eaves Dropping at Wendy's

so.... I'm sitting at Wendy's last night, working on my paperwork and eating a burger..... I do this most evenings on my way home... It gives me a chance to get my site plans re-drawn to scale, before I get home, and then I can start the computer work right away..... I usually sit way back in a corner, away from everybody else, cause, quite simply... I'm nosy.. And if people sit near me, I can't help myself... I draw and LISTEN....

sigh.... Sometimes I swear I'm 12 years old..

aaaaaaaaaaanyway... Last night, I'm sitting way back in the farthest corner... And in walk these two guys... Mid 40's .... Just a couple of good ole boys.....
45 going on 9 .....
they plunk theirselves ( using the vernacular of the natives here... Work with me! ) down right next to me....

I felt like saying... THERE'S A WHOLE ROOM HERE...... But since I'm Spirit filled, I shut my mouth.... And eavesdropped....

For starters, these two guys are dressed head to toe in camouflage.... You can TELL you live north of 7 when..............

anyway.... They start yakking and giggling.... One guy eating; the other guy ( obviously broke cause he spent his money on his camouflage clothing ) sat there and talked the whole time....

the BULK of their conversation was about Mr-Too-Broke-To-Eat being chased by the police one night when he was running through town with a flat tire..... Miraculously, he outran them, sliding into his driveway just at the last second....

I felt like saying... HEY GRIZZLY ADAMS.... If the police are chasing you, going home isn't always the SMARTEST MOVE................

instead, I ate more of my double burger with no cheese.

they rambled on....

I drew some more....

as I was about to slurp the last of my frosty, I hear Grizzly Adams say :

"I've often thought, that if I would lower my standards, I'd get more dates."


Imagine my surprise.............. He's SINGLE.


And then he says... " But why should I LOWER MINE... I figure women in a class above me should lower THEIR standards and date me....."

Incredible Sunset tonight...

I













I was heading west on Glenarm Road ... and I saw this sunset... it was GORGEOUS... almost blinding....


within a few minutes, it was over...... this one was 2 minutes later....















and this one was 6 minutes later.....interesting eh?

but the fence just isn't as uh.. pretty as it once was!!

Flight By Night

well..... it's almost Halloween .... I'm spending 3 nights this weekend helping my friend Karen, with the Flight By Night corn maze...... I was there last night...I HAD A BLAST!!!!!!!!!!!!!! (sorry gayle, no photos!!! )

It was a really good night... it only started raining around 9 :30...we were out of the field by 10:15 or so..... my camoflouge jacket is still wet... tonight I'm wearing a yellow rain slicker ( not actually all that easy to HIDE with ) but I'll probably wear the camo stuff over top ) ....

we had a lot of fun last night..... I was pretty well camouflaged, and would stand in the corn near the entrance of the 10 acre maze.... and not say a WORD.... as people would walk past, I'd lunge out at them.....
they'd shriek and keep walking ( or running ) ..... after they'd round a corner, I'd sneak up on them from behind... and scare them alllllll over again.....I never tire of THAT!! ....

A couple of times, I wiped out but good.... took an entire row of stalks out at one point... cause I came flying around a corner after somebody ( I sure hope karen doesn't read this ) .... and missed the corner....... wiped out completely....... ugh....... and a little while later..... I spotted a bunch of teenagers heading across the open field along the edge of the maze ( after they'd completed it, and were on their way home ) .... I thought it'd be cool to come flying out of the maze and scare them.... what I didn't know was that there was a rail fence along the outside...... and my glasses were steamed up pretty good under my hoody ...... so I hit the edge of the maze, screaming and yelling.... and hit the rail fence... snapped it RIGHT in half....and went airborne.... I landed flat on my back facing the direction I'd just come from..... wondering WHO would put a RAIL FENCE RIGHT THERE!!!!!

somewhere in the process of those two wipe outs, I lost 2 Mag Flashlights and a Cobra walkie talkie.... DUH.....

and to finish the evening off....... I thought I'd scare a couple of people in the parking lot ( A group of mid 20's aged nurses had come from Kingston to this thing..... 3 of them had enough nerve to do the maze, but 2 chickened out..... and stayed in their SUV in the parking lot ) ..... the 3 brave ones dared me to scare them..... so I snuck into the chicken coop, got a horrificly freaky mask, put it on and headed over to their vehicle to scare them...... sadly, I couldn't see out of the mask very well.... and as I came out of the chicken coop, I walked RIGHT into the BBQ ..... tipped it completely upside down..... racks flying everywhere, briquets all over the place..... sigh......(thankfully, i REALLY scared the two girls in the Jimmy )

so...... one rail fence, one BBQ, 2 flashlights and a walkie talkie......

There goes the profits from LAST night....... aren't you glad you invited ME eh Karen!

A full service outhouse!

check this out... inspected a place yesterday that has a functioning ( albeit un-necessary ) outhouse out beside the drive shed.....

pretty neat eh!!!

nope.... no clouds today!

had a pretty plain day today... inspected in Bobcaygeon area again... man I love it up there....
when I grow up, I'm going to buy a farm up there... and buy a few cows, and have some calves, some chickens, and make maple syrup ..... sigh....

I guess it's a pipe dream..... cause.... I'm not ever gonna grow up!!!

Toronto Maple Leafs

G1 .......

soooooooooooooooooooo .... my son got his G1 licence last week ... MAN do I feel old.....

My dad took taylor out driving Saturday morning, while the girls and I were at the mall..... After lunch, Dad and I went out driving with Taylor again.... and then Sunday after lunch, Taylor took my mom..... Taylor is becoming quite comfortable behind the wheel..... he was pretty timid at first, and as dad says... "way better to be cautious than over confident!

We drove to Walmart from my mom's on Sunday.... he did quite well.... nobody even honked the horn at him that trip!!

Corn Maze in Napanee

we went to Napanee to Minks Farm ...my friend Karen Donnan ( she and my sister and I have been friends from way back when ... back when I had hair ) has a farm and corn maze in Napanee .... anyway, my kids and I met Bruce and his family, Carol, and Randy and June Davidson there.... we went through the corn maze.... and then had a pot luck supper together.... I had neither LUCK Nor POT.... but I ate a lot of food!!!! ( oh brother )

anyway, it was really fun..... Isaac was in his glory..... at one point, we were up to our eyes in corn... and WHOOOOOOOOOOOOSH.... a little blue ball of light went flying through and I heard...

" COMING FREWWWW!!! "LOLOL

The Weekend in Belleville

well the kids and I had a really fun time this weekend... we drove to Belleville Friday night to visit my folks. It was a very fun weekend.... wayyyyyyyyyyy to quick, but fun just the same.

Saturday morning, we all went to the Wally Dever arena, and watched Isaac skate.... He has been taking lessons on Saturday mornings this fall... he's actually doing really well.... bless his heart!!

After he came off the ice, he was all too glad to show us his Toronto Maple Leaf's sweater.... I do NOT know who's kid HE is...... Alden Learned would laugh if he knew!!!!!

Saturday Morning

well, the kids and I are in Belleville.... I left Lindsay around 1:30 yesterday afternoon, fought through West bound Toronto traffic.... emptied my car, picked up my kids, and fought East bound traffic, and came to Belleville... by the time we got to Whitby, I'd seen enough of the back of other people's cars to drive me insane.... keep in mind I'm VERY close to insane as it is, so it doesn't take much to push me over the edge.

We had a fun time in the car though... we played 20 questions for 2 or more hours ...... the kids were getting really good at it by the time we were done.....

At one point, taylor was playing abby's nintendo game boy .... and only half paying attention....

I'd picked the "blue" cable wire that goes up the wall in the living room... the kids had to narrow it down and guess it.....

The previous questions were :

Is it in your house ( mine ) ? yes
Is it on the main level? yes
Is it on the ceiling? no ( cause a previous item had been the SMOKE detector )
Is it on the floor? NO
Is it on the wall??? yes!

After a couple more questions,... taylor clicked in...... and said : IS IT THE COUCH?

I almost drove off the road I laughed so hard...... only in space does the couch sit on the wall!!

we might have hurt his feelings, I'm not sure!!! as abby says, it doesn't matter... it WAS funny!!!!

well, I"m heading for the shower... for two reasons : Abby is tickling me, and I can hardly type.... and second 3et5upoweirul;ikxcbjm/,.

I saw this place LAST summer ( 2005 ) .... I keep the picture, to look at every time I get feeling bummed out in the winter.... summer's coming...

*I'm in bad shape, if I'm dreaming of summer and it's only OCTOBER!!!

Golfing with the boys

Steve, Ivan and Brian and I went golfing a couple of weeks ago..... we had a ball ( no pun intended ) .... Here are some random photos....

that, as I recall, was the last any of us saw it.... it's in the rough out there somewhere!!!


































Here's Brian doing a Paul Mackay..... I often spend more time ( and have more FUN ) hunting golf balls than I actually do golfing.... take a look at his right hand... it looks to me like it is completely full of golf balls and he is still reaching for more......!!

This one made me laugh... it's just the timing of the camera shutter... but it looks like Ivan is fed up and he's going HOME to sulk!!! Ivan isn't exactly a sulky person.... but I still prefer my story!!

At one of the farms I inspected yesterday, the owner showed this to me.......











it's a cabbage planter....it is way cool: you fill the thick ( Rusty ) part of the wheel with seeds.... and then the seeds fall out of the holes evenly as you turn the wheel.... it's pretty neat, when you see automation like that, that is a hundred years old....

Miscellaneous photos and random thoughts ( like THAT is different! )

My last inspection on Friday was just north of the 407 on Yonge Street, in Toronto.... two or three blocks from there, was Mackay Drive... I was gonna get out and have somebody take my picture... but I was too afraid they'd grab my camera and run .... I'm not exactly an olympic athlete just lately!




















Saw some pretty fall colours..... this is just south of Coboconk and the pictures below are in Milton going up the escarpment... pretty!
