What a Rip....
So ... Thursday this week, late morning, I was inspecting a farm just West of Cavan ( almost in your back yard David! ) ......
I'd had a pretty rough rew days.... I got 15 hours sleep in four nights this week..... it wasn't a great week for reducing the bags under my eyes...
anyway.... I was measuring the house at this farm, quite a nice place....
...... when I got to the back of the house, in order to get to the far corner to get a measurement, I had to jump off the deck ....
I gracefully jumped down , much like a gazelle, now that I think about it....
......... from this deck.........
I jumped off, but forward, so I wouldn't land in the flower bed....
what I didn't realize was.... that the ground was sloped...... a lot more than I realized.....
when my feet hit, given the fact that the ground was sloped, and the fact that when my body becomes desperate for sleep, I fumble around like a complete moron... given all of THAT, when my feet LANDED, the REST of me kept going....
....... I stumbled forward like a retard.....frantically trying to steer myself to the right so I didn't end up in the pool....
after I tumbled for several feet, my top heavy body went down on my face, rolled over and over, my clip board and my camera banging all the while...
I lay there in a daze, staring up at the sky......... soothed by the calming sound of the water pump in the pool, and the uncontrollable laughter of the farmer.....
"WHAT A SHOWWWWWWWWWW" he says.........
I grimaced.... "You're WELCOME," I said.... "it's just one more service we provide!!!!!"
Anyway, I staggered to my feet, with n'erry a shred of my pride, OR dignity intact, and continued inspecting as if nothing had happened!!!
When I got back to my car, I realized how soon I'll have a pair of black docker shorts!!!!
sigh....
Singing in Madoc
Last weekend, I got to sing along with Rob Rapino ( check out his site HERE ) .....
Al Murack and I sang with Rob at a church in Madoc..... Rob did the lions share of the singing, but had us sing along on 4 or 5 songs.... it was really fun....
we were trying to come up with names for the group..... "3 old guys in their forties" was the only real name that fit!!!!!
Here are some pictures ....it was a fun time!

Photos of Isaac
Last week, the kids and I went to Belleville for one night... we got to see Isaac play soccer ( in fact, we were there for the goal he scored... check out this way cool video my brother did... HERE )
We got some pretty neat photos ... poor Isaac.. it was blistering hot, and he was pretty bitten from bugs at the cottage....
Quote of the day
taken from Shawshank Redemption..... one of my very favourite movies...
after Andy escaped ( so much for wrecking it, for anyone that hasn't SEEN the movie!! )....from the prison, his friend Red sums it up like this........
" Not long after the warden deprived us of his company, I got a post card in the mail. It was blank;
but the post mark said "Fort Hancock Texas"... Fort Hancock... right on the border, that's where Andy crossed...
When I picture him heading south, in his own car, with the top down, it always makes me laugh!
Andy Dufresne, who crawled through a river of crap and came out clean on the other side; Andy Dufresne.. headed for the pacific!
Those of us who knew him best, talk about him often; I swear the stuff he pulled....
sometimes it makes me sad though... Andy being gone.
I have to remind myself that some birds aren't meant to be caged.. their feathers are just too bright
And when they fly away, the part of you that knows it was a sin to lock them up, does rejoice... but still, the place you live in, is that much more drab and empty that they are gone...
I guess I just miss my friend......
Welland Canal
Yesterday, I was inspecting in St catharines and Niagara on the Lake.... on my way from Niagara back to St Kits, I crossed a bridge/canal... thought I'd stop and take a couple of photos.. and found out I was at the very first lock of the Welland Canal .....
This is the ship I saw when I crossed the bridge.... wicked EH!
I talked to someone sitting nearby.. they told me they'd never seen a boat so big in the canal before.. check out the clearance...
The lock itself is 82' wide ( thanks to my handy dandy laser measurer ) .... nobody seemed to know where the ship was from but when I googled the ship name, found it came from HERE ( cyprus )
This is the clearance on the Left Side...
and this is the right side... incredible eh?
Check this thing out... looks like some sort of mini sub thing.. I have NO idea what it was.....
This is the view to the East, that is Lake Ontario in the distance
This is the view to the west, after the ship was out of the canal.. you can see another ship exiting lock 2, heading East into Lake Ontario....
