The Love of God......
This is one of my very favourite old hymns...
The love of God is greater far
Than tongue or pen can ever tell;
It goes beyond the highest star,
And reaches to the lowest hell;
The guilty pair, bowed down with care,
God gave His Son to win;
His erring child He reconciled,
And pardoned from his sin.
Refrain
O love of God, how rich and pure!
How measureless and strong!
It shall forevermore endure
The saints’ and angels’ song.
Could we with ink the ocean fill,
And were the skies of parchment made,
Were every stalk on earth a quill,
And every man a scribe by trade,
To write the love of God above,
Would drain the ocean dry.
Nor could the scroll contain the whole,
Though stretched from sky to sky.
Click HERE to hear an incredible version... with unbelievable harmony, particularly in the second verse.....

those are the two most common verses...
here's one that I don't think I have ever heard before...
When years of time shall pass away,
And earthly thrones and kingdoms fall,
When men, who here refuse to pray,
On rocks and hills and mountains call,
God’s love so sure, shall still endure,
All measureless and strong;
Redeeming grace to Adam’s race—
The saints’ and angels’ song.

We sing this in church quite often - incl. the third verse. I like it too, but then I like a lot of hymns! :)
Just thought I'd let you know...I've been humming this hymn off and on all day!!!!! :)
I love this song...We've sang it at our house church since I was little.
When we have our time of praise and worship, each of us pick a song...today I chose The Love of God after seeing it here. It has been awhile since we sang it and I'll never grow tired of it.
I'm going to wait to listen to that harmony when I go to my neighbor's to help her (she called me for help last night during the hockey game, and when I told her what I was watching, she told me I could come by whenever, which I was relieved to agree to!).
God bless you,
LPP
