Hey there Paul;
I don't know how to break this to you, but YOUR Habs are taking on MY Flyers! So, I say a big BOOOO after game one.
LOL!
Rus
Where'd you get that? Nice hat.
In my european neihgborhood that I cherish so much, I have learned that everyone has a vaulably different take on different things, whether it be life, sports, gardening...whatever.
Sooooo....today I'm at the fish store, and the Greek guy and I are talking about last night's game.
Greek:Did you notice who scored the goals last night?
Me:Well, yes. I saw Kostopoulos scored. The Greeks must have been happy, because they went around beeping in my area after the game.
Greek: Yes, but did you notice it was two Russians and a Greek?
Me: Yes....
Greek:They were all Orthodox!
Okay, to get the jest of this you have to know that it is the Orthodox Easter on Sunday...his point was they were celebrating early..or maybe that God was on their side, I don't know which! :) Orthodox Pascha (Easter) is different some years than Christian Resurrection Sunday, because it is based more on the date of Passover-- a more Biblical approach, to be honest, than based on the sun. That is one day a year I am Greek...and that is not a good testimony, because it does not have to do with celebrating Christ's Resurrection...it is that I love the smell of roasting lamb all over my area, and the crazkle of fireworks. That is the Greek tradition...well, give them ANY occasion and they will do either, but everyone does it on Pascha.
Alright, so now you know why they scored...and what our corner of the world will be like on Sunday! :) And in case you see a Greek, you can tell them Kala Paska...pronounced just as you see it.

What a cool PHONE!!!
Does it work or is just a conversation piece???
I was going to say what a cool phone too but then figured that probly wasn't the point of the photo...nice tablecloth!
I would still like to know if the phone works...that's an antique!!!
the phone actually does work, but it's not an antique... it's a fairly expensive reproduction phone... with touch tone dial and REDIAL! I got it at Liquidation World... they were listed for nearly $100 but were on for 75% off.... I bought 3 of them, kept one and used the other 2 as gifts...
It actually functions like the Andy Griffith phone... you hold the hand piece to your ear, and then talk into the main phone section...
it's not the most convenient phone I own, but is pretty neat!!
Yup, I can see Barney Fife talkin' or singin' on that phone to Wuanita...Nita...Wuaaaaanita!!
Gayle, are you saying that Paul reminds you of Barney Fife???
more like Otis!!!
If you remind yourself of Otis (the town drunk), there can only be one reason...you've been sippin' at the recipe, again!!! LOL!
Nice hat! NOT! LOL....Go Pittsburg Go!
Hope your well....Tart!
Hello, Mr. Mackay,
I must be nervous tonight....I never eat anything after 8pm, and tonight I popped two coconut macaroons before sitting down at this laptop and bringing up the scoreboard--which is when I saw it was 2-0 and screamed in anguish. I might finish off the can of cookies tonight....
Yesterday I showed my elderly neighbor your post on your ultrasound. She coudln't remember any time that I'd shown her your blog before, due to her poor memory (regardless of what the dcotor says who gave her her driver's liscence checkup!), and then she told me she was not in the mood for entertainment. She had to light two memorial candles at sundown for her husband and I think her brother was the other one, and she was down. I pulled up your blog as she told me this. Then I said, Well, this is a funny story you might enjoy," and I started reading. She picked up right at the part about the trousers and laughed. She liked the Miss 60-and-I've-never-been-kissed, too, as she told me that wasd very funny, because when she was 21 she had been kissed. I had no comment for that one... Most of the way through she repeated that she was miserable, so I stopped reading. She sat there lost in her thoughts and then said, "Are you finished?!?" No, there's more,I replied, and she listened attentively until the end....and enjoyed every bit of it. I had to skim the Habs posts because her husband liked hockey, and she was having a hard enough time last night as she recalled to me the way he was killed in the hospital. It sends shivers up my spine, and I try to block out what she says so I won't get too angry, just sympathetic. Anway....
Now it's 3-0 and you must be fit to be tied?! I'm glad I'm not watching the game because I get so frustrated sometimes...I wish I could just grab a stick and score for the Habs...like it's that easy. I joke with my sister about the time I scored 4 goals at the park due to some great teammates and she reminds me of the time I slapped at the puck with all my might and realized too late that I was not right in front of the net like I'd thought, but a few feet west of it...well, the other night I saw a Flyer do the same thing, so now I don't feel so bad...um, so long as my younger teammate who was so exasperated with me saw that play, too.
God bless you,
LPP
Go Habs Go!
PS We sold out of flags already, can you believe it?!
Oh, I forgot to tell you something real funny...
This morning the morning guy on our radio called up some guy who owns a bar in Philly. He asked him, amoung other things, who they would be boooing on the Habs team. The Philly guy responds, "Timmonen". "No,"says the Montreal guy, "YOU have Timmonnen. We don't. " "But you got someone with a name like that!" "You mean, Kostitsyn?" "Yeah, that's the guy!" "But we've got 2, Andrei and Sergei!" "So, we'll boo them both!" "WHY?" "Because they're RUSSIAN!" (Now we're laughing). "But we've got Kovalev who's Russian, too"says the Montreal guy. "So we'll boo him, TOO!" Oh....such an American...oh, that's right, I'm one, too....thank God I've lived so long in Canada!
