English Poetry

so tonight at bedtime, my daughter reminded me that I had promised to help her write a poem for English...

I forgot....

and so did SHE, till 11:15 tonight.......

arrrrrrrgh....

so while she was nodding off to sleep, I waxed poetic.... gave her three choices... hope she likes one of them...

Poem # 1
I tried to write a poem

That would catch the teachers eye
A rhyme so filled with words of wit
My marks would soar up high!

But sadly when the time had come
To write this poem grande;
The time to take my paper
And my pen within my hand…

The best that I could muster
Were these 12 small lines of verse
I hope instead of soaring
That my marks will not get worse!

Poem # 2

The winter of all winters
Was the snowy forecast dim
I watched the weather man and said
I truly can’t trust him

For every day it seemed, for YEARS
His forecasts went awry
The days he said it’d rain outside
Would always turn out dry

So when he said today would rain
And snow’s tomorrow’s fare
I quit believing him and changed
The channel, then and there.

Poem # 3

My father is a gen-i-us

His wit amazes me
He’s quick to take a pen in hand
And scratch down poetry.

But as I ponder all these things
I re-a-lize with glee
The gift my father THINKS he has
Was passed on down to ME!

So here’s my rhyme, in black and white
For all the world to see….
My very first attempt at writing
English POETRY

I hope we do well on this project!!!
