Garage Sale treasures......
My walls have seemed naked the last while..... so have picked up the occasional picture at yard sales......
this one ... a $2 special... reminds me of my grampie's store in Quebec.... These 3 are all hand painted ( as opposed to what... painting with your FEET paul??? ) ... by an elderly lady in Quebec somewhere... Ivy Fyckes....
Check out the cost of the board the picture was painted on... $1.25 from Pascals ...

Love the pictures...it looks like you might have gotten a set of pictures...they all look like they belong, together.
Have a great week!
yeah... the 3 oil paintings were together.... paid $5 for the 3 of them... I was pleased!
Have you ever tried to write your name with a pen between your toes?
Not easy! But some people paint with their mouths. I've tried that, it's easier than with your feet!
Little Montreal Girl
pascal's....that brings back memories for me, too. that was my dad's favorite hardware store, and he used to bring me there for an outing on saturdays when i was little!

I can't paint with my HANDS let alone my feet or my mouth!!!!!
LOL did you ever try to paint with your HANDS???!!
What about painting by number???
Like those pictures too!
Hi Paul...just stopping by to visit from Pals...hope your day is blessed in every way.
Pascals....I had forgotten about that store. The rare time that my Dad actually went to Carrefour we would "drop him off" there while we did some REAL shopping!
I couldn't have winter scenes on my wall tho...just don't like winter THAT much...they are pretty tho and you just can't argue with that price.
You should frame some of your photography and hang it....then you could have your head in the clouds all the time!!
Gayle, I've been telling him to frame his own pictures for AGES!!! At the very least, they should be on a calendar, where the pics can be enjoyed for a month at time!!! :)
Hi Paul -
My name is Tim Gibb and I am Pastor from Ontario. I am in Montreal today to lead the funeral service for Ivy Fyckes. I have known Ivy for 32 years. She was an adopted grandmother to me. I googled her name last night out of curiosity and your blog was the first site to come up. I well remember those paintings. Ivy was a wonderful, talented, generous lady. She would paint her paintings and give them away to people as gifts. I do not beleive she ever sold one. The title of your blog is correct "Treasures" because of the one who painted them. Ivy was a Christian lady who placed her faith in Christ. We beleive she is experiencing her reward in heaven. As most, if not all, of her paintings were gifts, was there any inscription on the back??
Tim
